THE DORK MANUAL
Sign in and connect your plan
Your Dork account controls access to your Lab. Your ChatGPT login authorizes model use. Connecting one does not complete the other, and a ChatGPT subscription is separate from an OpenAI API key.
Use an invitation
- Open Dork and choose New cloud Lab when that option is offered.
- Enter the invitation code supplied by Dork and choose Continue.
- Choose Sign in with ChatGPT.
- Copy the displayed code and choose Open the sign-in page. Complete the authorization on the provider’s page with your own account.
- Return to Dork and choose I have signed in.
Continue when Dork confirms that your plan is connected. An unreadable status is not a successful login. Choose Retry after checking your connection; do not send the code or your password to support.
Email and organisation access
Some installations expose Dork Cloud account access in Settings → Account. Sign in with the address that received the invitation. Request a sign-in link, then paste that link into the desktop sign-in form and choose Finish sign-in. Treat the link as a credential.
An organisation sign-in option appears only when configured. It does not imply every Dork installation supports your institution’s login provider. A local Lab needs no Dork Cloud account, but its external model connection still needs authorization.
Disconnecting
Sign out of ChatGPT disconnects model access and pauses research until you reconnect. The confirmation says your saved work stays in the Lab. Signing out is not a request to delete the Lab, its reports, or provider-side history.
Hosted ChatGPT credentials are intended to stay in the Lab’s protected credential storage rather than reach the desktop. If revocation cannot reach the Lab, erasure can remain pending. Do not interpret a pending state as completed deletion.
Claude subscription access has a different availability limit from ChatGPT. Read providers and models before assuming that a Claude plan can power your hosted Lab.
