THE DORK MANUAL

Frequently asked questions

What is Dork for?

Dork helps you direct AI researchers on ML, AI, and mathematical questions: experiments, literature comparisons, computational probes, arguments, and formal statements where supported. You remain the principal investigator. A researcher return is something to inspect, not an automatic scientific conclusion.

Is there a browser research app?

The researcher-facing client is the Electron desktop app. This website explains the product; it does not run a Lab. macOS is the primary release platform. Package configuration for other systems does not establish a supported public release.

Can I use my ChatGPT or Claude subscription?

The hosted subscription flow uses your ChatGPT login. Plan limits and account terms apply. Claude subscription support is currently development-only; it is not a general hosted offering. API keys are separate connections with separate billing. See providers and models.

Which model is the default?

GPT-6.1 Sol is the planned launch default. Current Labs are restricted to Luna. Your connected Lab’s available and selected model determines what can actually run; changing website wording does not enable a model.

Does research continue when I close my Mac?

Eligible work in a healthy hosted Lab can continue without the desktop app. Local research depends on the machine running the Lab. Capacity, permissions, authorization, and plan limits can hold either path. Reconnect to read the current state.

Is a checked result a solved research problem?

A check covers its exact inputs and statement. A finite experiment does not prove a general theorem, and a formal proof can target a statement that differs from your intent. Read the scope and complete meaning sign-off where required. Not checked means unverified.

Is my research used for training?

Dork’s stated policy excludes private Lab material from its training. External providers have separate terms and controls. Review your actual ChatGPT, Claude, API, or custom-provider account before sending unpublished material.

Is Dork free or unlimited?

No universal price or unlimited entitlement is established here. Subscription allowance and hosted compute are different costs. Use the terms of your invitation or agreement with Dork.

How do I report a problem?

Use the app’s feedback flow when available. Describe the action and visible result, preview attachments, and send only material you intend to share. Keep API keys, passwords, sign-in links, and device codes out of the report. For access or deletion requests, use your established Dork contact until a verified public contact is published.
