THE DORK MANUAL
Use the Library
The Library keeps papers and saved passages alongside your research. Adding a source does not mean Dork has read it correctly, verified its claims, or established that it applies to your question.
Add and inspect a source
- Open Library and choose Add source.
- Choose files or enter a source address in the offered form.
- Wait for the source’s processing state before relying on extracted text.
- Open the paper and compare the extracted mathematics with the original when the distinction matters.
Open local PDF… also provides a reading path. Do not assume opening a local file is the same as importing it into your Lab or making it available to researchers.
PDF extraction can alter symbols, formulas, or reading order. Review any Possible conversion error and the uncertain passages. A held or unreadable source must not be treated as usable model context. If a paper has multiple versions, confirm the version you are citing.
Save with attribution
Select and save a passage you want to revisit. Saved passages lets you find retained excerpts; the original source and byline matter when using one in a report. A saved excerpt is a quotation, not an instruction to a researcher and not evidence that its claim has been checked.
Read the cited passage in context before accepting a literature comparison. A related title or matching phrase does not establish that a theorem or experiment applies to your setup.
Restrict model access
In the source’s details, Never send to a model excludes the restricted source from retrieval, indexing, briefs, exports, and caches. Confirm that the policy save is acknowledged. Restricting a source cannot recall material already sent to a provider or make copies you created elsewhere disappear.
For sensitive work, establish the source policy before any model use and check the provider terms first. Source restrictions do not replace permission from the author, institution, or data owner. Upload only material you are authorized to process.
