THE DORK MANUAL

Privacy and data controls

Choose your Lab, source policies, and provider with the material you intend to study in mind. Local execution does not make external model calls private to your computer.

Research and providers

Dork’s stated product policy is not to train on private Lab material. Model providers receive the prompts and permitted research context sent to them under their own account-specific terms. That Dork policy does not override a provider’s training, retention, safety, or legal requirements.

Read Data use and retention for the actual connection. ChatGPT and Claude subscriptions differ from API accounts. A custom endpoint has its own operator and policies. If retention is unknown, resolve it before sending confidential work.

In the Library, Never send to a model is a source restriction. Wait for the saved policy to be acknowledged. It cannot undo a previous provider submission.

Optional app reporting

In Settings → Privacy, app activity and crash reporting have separate controls and are off by default. When configured and enabled, product activity goes to PostHog with the Dork account and invitation email. It includes enumerated actions, counts, durations, error codes, app version, and event metadata.

Automatic product analytics excludes research text, mathematics, reports, source passages, search terms, file paths, and keys. Session replay, screen recording, and automatic click tracking are disabled. Lab usage reporting and automatic device reports have separate controls; review each rather than assuming one switch controls every kind of collection.

Feedback is an explicit submission

Feedback can include your written message and, if you choose them, a screenshot or current-view text. Those attachments can contain research. Review the complete preview before sending. Do not include credentials. Operational account and connection information is separate from optional product analytics.

Sign-out and deletion differ

Disconnecting ChatGPT pauses model access and keeps saved Lab work. It is not Lab deletion or deletion of material held by a provider. Recovery, research export, account deletion, and backup expiry are separate processes. Ask your Dork contact to confirm the scope and status of an erasure request before relying on it.

The privacy policy draft identifies publication gaps. No end-to-end encryption, zero-retention, data-residency, or security-certification guarantee is made here.
